Dimmer Switch on Fluorescent Light

We have a fluorescent overhead light in our kitchen. I don't like the light at all. We rent the apartment so we can't do any major work. Is there anyway to put a dimmer on the light or is there something else we can do?

Answer:
I'm sorry to say that you cannot place this fluorescent fixture in a dimming circuit. The ballast within the fixture must be "dimmable" and I'm sure yours isn't. Dimming a fluorescent fixture requires a combination of a fluorescent dimmer and ballast which is rather expensive. A more economical approach would be to go to a suitable incandescent fixture which can be dimmed economically.
